State Route 560 is wood from floor to ridge: knotty pine walls, a vaulted ceiling with exposed beams, an open-tread staircase, log posts, and plank floors. It is a handsome house, but with that much orange-toned wood, rooms can read dark and heavy in photos. Our home staging here was about balance.

The fix was light and texture. We brought in white slipcovered seating, pale vintage-style rugs and cream bedding to break up the pine, then added soft brown sheepskin pillows, a cowhide ottoman and stoneware lamps so the look stays rustic without tipping into lodge cliché. Olive and eucalyptus branches add a cool green that the wood lacks. In the great room, the big sectional is dressed in cream, sage and plaid pillows, and a pale rug pulls the floor lighter.

Home staging in Urbana for a one-of-a-kind house

A house like this attracts a specific buyer, and they want to see comfort. We prioritized the great room and a second sitting area first, then the bedrooms: a log-post bed layered in white, and a painted guest room with a blue quilted cover and plaid pillows that shows the house can go quieter too. A bowl of pears on the granite kitchen counter keeps the kitchen shot simple.

Urbana is outside our usual radius, which is why we list it on the areas we serve. See more in the portfolio, read about vacant home staging, and request a free estimate.
